Book Review: Pain Sense by Stephen Hussey
Introduction
This was a really good primer in quantum biology. Stephen was able to connect pain to essentially humans living outside the environment we evolved in. One of the main theories of the book is that a major part of pain is low redox potential, which essentially means low body charge. The human body is supposed to have a negative charge, and due to lack of sunlight and grounding, we absorb fewer electrons than we used to, leading to a more positive body charge (inflammation essentially) which can be one of the major factors of chronic pain. The idea is that chronic pain is our body's way of signaling that something needs to change (we need more negative charge) since evolutionary chronic pain does not make any sense. Acute pain makes sense evolutionary- you experience pain and avoid it- but having long term pain is only a hindrance.
7 Major Takeaways:
A Harvard study found that 62 percent of people who file for bankruptcy file due to medical expenses- 78% of them actually had health insurance too. If nothing else, I think the best decision you can do for your financial health is to invest in your actual health. Its a lot cheaper to invest up front than down the line
Zeta potential is the negative charge around hydrophilic surfaces created by structured water. The more of a redox state you are in (negative charge) the higher your zeta potential (which is a good thing). Lower Zeta potential could lead to pain or cardiovascular issues because it can lead to decreased blood flow and clotting, as structured water is known as exclusion zone water meaning it keeps thing out and helps liquid water flow through the body. In summary it helps prevent the aggregation of molecules.
There are somewhere between 200-500 mitochondria inside cells depending on the cell. Heart cells are the most mitochondrially dense followed by the brain. Mitochondria actually create mini electric fields, so the heart actually produces the biggest electric field, this is what an EKG measures and why an EKG can actually be placed on any part of the body.
Fascia actually connects every single cell in our body together, and cell to cell communication happens through fascia via phase transitions of water.
The main role of ATP in cells is not to actually power the whole cell, according to calculations done by gilbert ling, cells don’t produce enough energy to power the cell. Instead what happens is that mitochondria produce ATP which unfolds protein (which is a hydrophilic process). During this same process mitochondria turn oxygen into water and also create light (IR specifically). So essentially mitochondria create all the components to create structured water inside the mitochondria, this structured water via phase transitions is actually what leads to action potential, not the ATP itself.
Inflammation and oxidative stress decrease amount of ATP being produced, which leads to a decrease in structured water which leads to cells have less energy
Seed oils, grains, sugar, and alcohol all create inflammation and increase oxidative stress. These are the main things nutritionally to avoid. Focusing on eating locally and seasonally is one of the best things to do for your health
Conclussion:
Like I said in the introduction, this is an awesome primer for quantum biology. I think it’s fair to say that you could change the title of the book to any disease, cancer, heart disease, IBS, whatever, and the information would stay unchanged as all chronic disease is simply a symptom of how our society is structured.
